Very interesting! The ultra-competitive athletic landscape isn't an area where I would enjoy being, but it's fascinating to learn from folks who thrive in that environment. Sharapova says a lot of the same types of things John Wooden says. Wooden would always start training a new player on his team by teaching them the right way to tie their shoes. Everything else cascaded from this ritual, and routine was all-important.
Thanks Andrew! Glad you enjoyed it. I think there are many shades to that performance mindset. I agree, their achievements especially in those small steps as a stepping stone are inspiring.
I don't know much about John Wooden, but your example gives us a glimpse of character 👌
I'm not sure if I have watched this biography, but you might enjoy it: https://youtu.be/qYKbLYTvQbE (feel free to ignore if too busy, but if you're curious about Wooden, his coaching legacy is quite dominant in a very, very competitive arena, which I find interesting in its own right).

Thanks! I will add it to my list and reach out to you with my thoughts on it 🙂.
