👋 Dear creative! How are you doing today?
Knock knock, knocking on heaven’s door
Are you tired of knocking on the door of opportunity? Do you feel like you’re standing before a closed door, uncertain, exhausted, almost ready to turn back and quit?
As I was thinking about the next Opportunity Knocks issue, the Guns N’ Roses version of this song kept ringing in my head. At its core, Bob Dylan’s Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door captures that fragile threshold — the emotional weight of being right at the edge.
What if knocking was not a sign of ending, but a signal that you are close to your breakthrough? Especially if you have bounced back against the odds and are still ready to knock once more.
If you are still trying and seizing opportunities, it is proof that you have not failed. Each attempt sharpens your response, strengthens your maturity, and refines your focus. Every knock brings you closer to that curated YES, perfectly fit for you. And each knock, knock gets you closer. Who knows, maybe close enough for the door to open. Close enough to hear what lies on the other side of resilience and determination. Close enough tested by again by patience, doubt, silence, and faith in momentum.
Breakthroughs rarely announce themselves. Sometimes you are so close to the edge that your knocking nearly drowns out their arrival. At times, they come swiftly and quietly, after the longest season of trials and waiting, even after you have nearly given up hope, while still knocking. Yet every fiery knock is a declaration. I am still here. I still believe. I am not done yet.
If you are waiting, keep knocking. Doors open more often than we think.
