๐ Opportunity knocks #34
You don't check all the boxes? No problem, breathe in and just hit that submit button!
๐ Hello, Dear creative! Here we are in a new week full of surprises, lessons, play, and daring faith to create.
Before jumping into this weekโs list, I want to talk about the moment when you hit the submit button. That journey from not ticking all the boxes to finding the clarity to give it a shot!
I know what it feels like to dismiss an opportunity because it seems too big or out of reach. I have endured those missed submissions and grown stronger. Becoming more aware of the importance of saying yes to projects and opportunities that push me beyond my comfort zone. For they propelled me to another step and dimension.
When you are looking at that call for projects or creatives, that job interview, or collaboration email, you draw on your past experiences as a guide. You scan the opportunity, trying to figure out if you have everything theyโre asking for. Such as the tech, skills, style, mindset, references, or even following and more. If itโs an open call and your work resonates with its intention, why close a door thatโs not closed to you, yet? Why step out of the waiting line when you might be three spots closer to the entry?
When you have a hunch while reading an opportunity, despite not ticking all the boxes or meeting your perception of what they expect, give yourself some credit. Listen to that first hunch. Was it a good one? Did you envision yourself on the other side living that opportunity? Do you feel joyful and excited about it?
Then go for itโyou have nothing to lose.
At best, youโll just get even more skilled at pitching, preparing eye-catching presentations, and being more precise with your offer. Or even with the kind of residency and environment you want to work inโฆ you get ahead! Itโs never a waste, and you never know if that small leap is preparing you for a bigger one. The good news is, youโve got some training now!
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
