👋 Hello, creative! I hope so far July has been good for you.
This will be my last issue before my much-needed holiday. I wanted to wrap up with a pack of good opportunities you can seize right away or plan to act upon by September. I wish you a restful summer and see you in September.
Knock, knock, knock on wood
Before we jump into the week's list, I wanted to discuss the chasing era we live in. We are constantly bombarded to do, have, and chase more. As a creative and entrepreneur, this pursuit has always been challenging to perceive and redefine. From January to today, I have been in that pushing mode, which is a positive thing—to sow those seeds and analyze where the soil is most fertile. However, like many others, it's time to reevaluate what true magnetism means.
Getting tired of chasing… I understand.
As I am taking some time off, during which I will be doing some things but with a more allowing mindset than ever, I understand how exhausting and daunting chasing can be. When you care deeply about something, you naturally want to give it your best effort, which is already heroic and brave. However, there are aspects beyond your control. When you finally realize this beautiful truth, you can let go of chasing and enter the allowing or magnet mode.
Let your seeds and efforts work for you.

In every letter, I share opportunities I stumbled upon. There are so many cool grants, funding, competitions, and more to enter to experience progress. I hope the list of the week will be useful.
🎤 International Showcase (For international export opportunities for UK-based artists, bands, songwriters and producers who have been invited to perform or create new music at international industry-facing showcasing festivals, songwriting camps or conferences ⟶ 🇬🇧 Funding: £5,500. Deadline: Rolling).
🎬 Film Travel Grant (For UK filmmakers and XR creatives to support travel to selected international festivals and showcase events, labs, and co-production forums.⟶ 🇬🇧Deadline: All-year submissions).
🇫🇷 The Drawing Lab Paris (An experimental and exhibition space for contemporary drawing by the Drawing Society is looking for an artist/curator duo for an exhibition in the fall of 2025 on the theme: "Drawing in Motion(s)." ⟶ Budget 20K. Deadline: Oct. 10th at noon Paris time).
🇫🇷 Call for applications for the Water Festival/Wattwiller (An invitation for artists to revisit our relationship with monsters and imaginary creatures—or rather, the fears they provoke in us. The theme is "The People of the Water: Monsters and Creatures of the Oceans." ⟶ Budget 1K-1.5K. Deadline: September 6th).
👩🏻🎨 The Horizon Magazine (Open to writers and artists from all backgrounds: Art, Photography, Poetry, Short Fiction + Drama, Essays ⟶ deadline: Oct. 31st).
🌱ijungle illustration awards (Categories: Book, Editorial, Commercial, New Talent (Student), Self-Promotion and Comics ⟶ deadline: October 20th. Fees start at $25).
💸 About her Culture (A micro-grant to empower African and Caribbean women around the world for social and economic development. ⟶ It has already passed but bookmark it for the next round).
