Follow your curiosity #02
📹 Art + Activism from Latin America in an intentional space
👋 Hello, dear creative. How are you doing today?
Follow your curiosity and ease. You never know where they will lead you to.
I am used to stumbling on artists, designers and creatives. I always seize the hunch and talk to some of them. This time, after a coworking session in Paris, I stumbled on this graphic boutique. I was intrigued by the posters on the storefront: they were so colourful and bright, it’s my language. I entered and discovered a space for ideas and a new word: Artivism = Artist + Activism.
Let me introduce you to Paula Forteza, one of the founders of Artivistas: an engaged Latin America art gallery in Paris. Paula kindly gave us a tour of the space and shared their WHY and vision. She is an artist and illustrator, I had the opportunity to see some of her works in the gallery.
They have gathered in this gallery artists and thinkers who embody activism. You can see exhibitions, conferences, concerts and even drink a coffee. Paula shared more than art, she shared also an entrepreneurial and collective vision that shines beyond a continent. They feature Latin American artists creating a bridge between France and an identified activism from countries such as Mexico, Argentina and more.
Never judge a book by its cover, Paula was also a politician. I discovered that trait after our meeting while preparing this edition. She is a former independent, ecologist, and feminist deputy. She represented the French from Latin America and the Caribbean. She has been involved in projects across diverse domains, including street gastronomy, the creative economy, and digital innovation. I would love to have an interview with her on her political and artistic redefinition of activism. I keep you posted on that!
What is creativity for you?
Oh! Wow, that's hard.
I guess it's being oneself and expressing freely.
I think creativity comes when we feel free!

Enjoy the Q&A, she was kind to follow the flow!
Illustration has a superpower to captivate, engage and question society.
Take good care and ‘‘keep your eyes open’’.
