👋 Hello, dear creative. How are you doing today?
Play with time + Collaboration + Creative to creative hug.
Mariah from
and I connected a few months ago on Notes and we decided to collaborate. It took us momentum to finally put action into our collab, but we made it happen. I wanted us to have a fun experiment with time and discover more about who is behind the creative. The concept was simple: 1 question each day for 5 days, with answers through audio notes daily. At the end of our time capsule, we did a recap of how it went.
I had experimented with this concept years ago and always loved the aftermath of it, but also how it can be more than audio notes. I remember volunteering with another creative years ago, we were oceans apart, and It was quite impactful to do good at the same time in different locations.
Mariah and I were able to discover each other in a short lapse of time. We navigated several themes such as creativity, routine, mindset, purpose, vision and legacy. Moreover, we tackled the ideas of the era we live in.
The other face of this collaboration will be over on Mariah’s Substack. We expanded these topics in a face-to-face chill chat. You can view it there!
🔮 We decided to go the extra mile (check below → ‘‘It is a Prompt’’ section)
What more to say, enjoy the experiment!
🎙Here is our Creative Chassé-croisé
Do you know Mariah?
Mariah is a writer, nurse, mother and to-be-published author. She shared more about that journey in the audio and it is precious for any creative who wants to enter publishing. She is a writer who speaks from her core. It is inspiring to read her reflections on her path, challenges but also lessons learned.
I love how nurturing her about page is, especially this mindful truth and reminder.
It’s hard being human and we need each other. I hope this love letter will bring you comfort, and joy, make you laugh sometimes, and inspire you to become the whole person you already are.
👀 By the way, why Creative Chassé-croisé?
Chassé-croisé is a French expression that summarizes the experience pretty well. It is a reciprocal and simultaneous exchange. Furthermore, it also relates to dancing, with the movement in which two dancers cross each other. Adding the creative twist, we have, as a result, Creative Chassé-croisé as a title.
🎈 Capturing the experiment
We spent five days experimenting with time, reflections, moods, life and the moment. We approached the experiment with a playful and curious mindset. By the end, it was clear to me that we had enough material to create an additional capture. What if we expressed it in one word, one art piece, and one song?
❇️ MARIAH’S Capture
Song: Farout by Sleeping At Last
❇️ KEVA’S Capture
Song: Ma Route by Benjamin Biolay
🤩 Creative awe
🎨 Design and its artist soul (An interesting take on the design field and the artist's role in the process. Design has always been asked to mingle art and function, more towards one side these days, but where is the soul of our art?).
🧠 Crazy dream to be inspired by (I discovered this traveller duo months ago. They express creative freedom and audacity with a down-to-earth chill).
📹Oh! The filter is too much (This analysis highlights how we have trapped ourselves into a projection of images of ourselves).
💡 It is a Prompt
Light up your creative fire this week • 💎 Prompt of the week
We prompt you to do a Creative Chassé-croisé
Our experiment can serve also as a roadmap for collaboration. I believe that after those five days as an appetizer, it is easier and more natural to have longer face-to-face talks. Many of us collaborate with people we don’t know, they are practically strangers. This playful experiment and process can help create unexpected bonds. Of course, when they apply and if there is resonance. I am happy Mariah proposed that we prompt you guys to do your own Creative Chassé-croisé, I think it is a great way to extend the benefits of The Creative Chassé-croisé.
The rules are simple and you can expand them.
→ You need another creative (someone you know or not)
→ 5 days of Q&A (commit and share audio memos)
→ The last day is for a recap of how it went. You can adjust the number of days.
→ Last but not least, put everything together to have one full audio of both your Q&A.
🔮 We decided to go the extra mile
Why not match some of you with each other? All you have to do is answer the quiz below, and we will match you with another creative for the experiment. We will also share some tips on the process. The first round will be for 20 of you.
As for me, I already have a few creatives I am looking forward to experimenting with them in this format. Mariah already agreed to come back for a second duo possibly next year. I am sure we will have even more insightful questions.
Creativity is in every little curious experimentation.
I hope you enjoyed this experiment and that you are inspired to do the same. It is all about passing the baton. What do you think of it and what can it highlight in your creative path and future collaborations?
If you enjoy this letter → 💖 put a heart on it and feel free to share it with peers, friends and family! It helps more people discover this space.
Until next time, keep creating!
Keva.
What a great unique idea for a collaboration!
And I haven't forgotten my intention to circle back to you ... I bit off more than I could chew these past months but please don't take it as disinterest in making a connection. <3 <3
